FSE Wildland Firefighting Resources And Services

With more than 36 years in the wildland fire industry, First Strike Environmental Company (FSE) offers wildland fire resources; wildland firefighting personnel, equipment and management teams that are certified at both, Federal and State levels for national response.

FSE has extensive history in the industry, initially beginning work with U.S. Forest Service (USFS) in 1987, supplying one engine and one tender. Shortly after, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF), Interagency Firefighting Crew Agreement (IFCA) was introduced in 1995 and FSE was awarded an agreement for twenty-person, Type 2 Firefighting Hand Crews. Over the past 35-years in our business, FSE has developed and grown as a company to meet the ever-increasing needs of the wildland fire industry along with the industry’s environmental needs.

In 1996, FSE began development of our hazardous materials program, offering experienced hazardous materials response personnel to State and local agencies, initially responding to emergency roadside spills and releases. FSE began a cross-training program to train FSE wildland fire personnel and began formation of multiple hazardous materials response teams for emergency response to spills/releases, environmental remediation, and site restoration incidents within the State of Oregon. We expanded our hazardous materials program and began offering hazardous material services in Washington State and Northern California, often times responding as far as Western Idaho. FSE continued to build the wildland fire services, adding additional firefighter personnel, hazardous materials personnel, and expanding the qualifications of FSE’s environmental services program.

Today, FSE offers diversely trained and experienced personnel to fill wildland fire suppression teams and hazardous materials response teams. FSE management and key personnel are trained and experienced to NIMS ICS 300/400, with work experience to multiple Level I, II, and III incidents, as well as numerous state regulatory emergency response incidents within Oregon and Washington. FSE is an Oregon licensed corporation, small business, Hub-zone entity that is diversified in wildland fire suppression, environmental remediation, and natural restoration, to include general construction services. FSE has developed a multifaceted company working with multiple Federal, State, and Local agencies and their cooperative agencies on incident assignments within the Wildland Fire Suppression, All-Hazard, and Severity/Preparedness fields.

Handcrews

FSE’s 26-years under the annual ODF IFCA initially allowed FSE opportunity to build up to seven Type 2, twenty-person wildland fire hand crews for response to wildland fire suppression incidents in nine states; Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, to include Oregon. Additionally, FSE wildland firefighting crews were beneficial to the Space Shuttle Recovery effort during the Space Shuttle Columbia incident in 2003 that occurred over Texas and Louisiana. Prior to the implementation of the VIPR I-BPA, FSE held individual wildland fire suppression agreements with Washington Department of Natural Resources and the USFS, Emergency Equipment Response Agreements (EERA) supplying equipment and supply resources during the fire season.

Water Handing Resources: Engines and Equipment

FSE also has long-standing professional relationships with the U.S. Forest Service providing water handling equipment and resources. First Strike's Type 6X Engines and Type 4X Engines are inspected, certified and ready to respond.

Our professionals can respond to calls for an individual engine or a full strike team of engines. All engines are third-party-inspected, fully equipped with pressure pumps, tanks, hoses, fitting and state of the art radios. Each engine is staffed by a single-resource engine boss and crew members.
